Wire market mixed, non-standard lines running

"Non-standard wires and counterfeit branded wires can easily cause tripping or burn out of power mains, or even cause fire," said an industry source. In the renovation, hydropower projects are often individually designed because of their special importance. However, a large number of "non-standard lines" and inferior quality counterfeit wires are flooding the building materials market.

Total circuit trip caused by inferior wires

In October last year, Ms. Yinchuan Yinma invited a decoration company to design a new house. At that time, the decoration company promised that the hydropower project would use national standard materials. After the new house was renovated, Ms. Ma purchased a new batch of electric appliances before the Spring Festival, including air conditioners with higher power. When the air conditioner is installed and debugged, the circuit always trips when the power is turned on. The installer told Ms. Ma that the copper wire of her home air conditioning cord may not meet the standard. Ms. Ma hired electricians to repair and found that it was indeed the case. She went to the decoration company to discuss and found that the decoration company has gone to the building.

According to Mr. Zhou, an owner of a decoration company in Yinchuan, the most profitable part of the decoration industry is hydropower engineering, especially circuit design and installation. In the building materials market, there are many dealerships selling counterfeit branded wires and non-GB wires that have become an open secret in the industry. Non-national lines and counterfeit branded wires are difficult to distinguish from genuine products from the outside, but they are very harmful in the latter part of the process.

"Non-line" into the unspoken rules of the industry

It is reported that there are nearly 30 wire and cable shops on the section of Baohu East Road between Qinghe Street South and Lijing South Street. Nearly 90% of the stores are marked with the word “Jinchuan” and some stores with other brands of wires are also Ying Jin Chuan Electric Wire.

A store named “Changli Cable in Gansu”, the female salesperson introduced two types of wires, one is a BV plastic wire with a cross-section of 2.5 mm 2 and the other is a BV plastic with a cross-section of 4 mm 2. Line; followed by the introduction of the three brands of wires that are also produced in Gansu: “Hengli”, “Jinchuan” and “Zhongbang”, but the price of each of the three kinds of national standard wires (100 meters) is more than 210 yuan. Female salespersons said that the cheaper are all non-GB wires, which are close to the national standard. The price is 10% lower than the national standard wire, and the difference between the other is different from the national standard wire and the price is 15% lower than the national standard wire. "A lot of people who buy electric wires will ask whether they want the national standard or the non-national standard," said the female salesperson. She said that the "Guo-Guo Line" is produced according to national standards. The diameter of the copper core in the wire is in line with national standards, while the "non-standard-line" copper core is thinner and the outer insulation skin is thicker.

Wire market is mixed

Who is using "non-standard lines"? A wire and cable shop owner said: "Non-national standards are generally used by some engineering and decoration companies, and private individuals generally use the national standard line."

At the “Yinchuan Jinsei Cable Sales Center”, the shop owner stated that he sold both Jincheng Electric Wire and Jinchuan Electric Wire. There are three types of Jinchuan wires and three kinds of wires. Jinchuan GB wires produced by regular manufacturers sell for 2.5 yuan and 135 yuan for a roll of 2.5 square millimeters and 226 yuan for a roll of 4 square millimeters. The price of the two types of wire is floating. They are all around 3 yuan; the price fluctuations below 3 yuan are the artificial wires of the "Jinchuan" brand, which is 20 yuan lower than the price of the regular national standard wires; there are some "black river" wires and copper cores produced by some black workshops in Henan. Fine, copper is worse, the price is lower than the national standard wire is forty-five or fifty yuan.

It is understood that there are more than 20 wire and cable stores, of which only two stores sell national standard wires. The rest of the stores sell both national and non-national wire, and the prices vary greatly. "Jinchuan," "ocean," and other branded electrical wires are divided into national standards and non-national standards. Jinchuan Electric has the most fake and inferior products.

Unknown tricks

An agent who sells normal wire and cable claims that there are more "tracks" in the wire market. Take the length of a wire, the real standard length of the brand wire is 100 meters, there are also 95 meters specifications, marked clearly; and some non-GB wire, marked length of 100 meters, the actual only 90 meters to 95 meters. In the purchase process, the customer does not use a ruler to measure, and no one pursues it. In addition, some wire distributors “crawled and sold dog meat” to purchase counterfeit and shoddy wires from small workshops, but they printed logos of regular brands and sold them with genuine products.

There are three kinds of counterfeit wires: one is produced according to the national standard, and it is difficult to distinguish between the appearance and the thickness of the copper core. The Yinchuan wire market has more fake wires of the “Jinchuan” and “ocean” brands. The other is called the "middle line" or "pulled wire" and looks no different from the "GB line" from the outside, but it tears the outer insulation, and the copper core inside is slightly thick and thin. The industry calls it "the middle line." "Some of them are fine from beginning to end. The industry calls them "drawing wires." There is also a kind of "copper wire," which is a complete inferior product. This wire insulation has poor texture and is easily broken. The copper core has poor quality copper. The interior is iron or zinc.

The State has explicitly banned the use of "non-standard marking lines" at home. Why are "non-standard marking lines" and counterfeit and shoddy cables still so rampant? The agent said that after the price of copper rose, the price of “GB line” remained high and the profits in hydropower projects shrank. Therefore, “non-standard lines” and counterfeit and inferior wires had a market.
