World TV shipments fell for the first time in ten years

Market research company IHS iSuppli issued a report on Monday that global TV shipments fell 6.3% last year to 238.5 million units, the first decline in more than 10 years.
Global television shipments increased by 11.6% in 2010, but only increased by 1% in 2011. Tablet PC demand and the global economic downturn have also caused the television market to suffer a heavy blow last year.
By type, last year LCD TV shipments dropped from 211.3 million units in 2011 to 209.8 million units, and plasma TVs dropped from 17.9 million units to 13.1 million units.
