Towards the polarization of high function and low cost

Polarization toward high-function type with high degree of freedom in light distribution characteristics and popular type that emphasizes cost and energy saving (data provided by Hella Germany).

Judging from the cost of LED headlamps, the LS600h is around 500,000 yen, but recently it has dropped to less than half. But even so, to popularize in ordinary models, the price is undoubtedly still high. In the future, to what extent will LED headlamps be popularized?

In this regard, Hella of Germany believes that the current market is moving towards the polarization of high-functionality and popularization of high-end cars. The company supplied a full-LED headlamp that was LEDized together with a high beam to "Cadillac Escalade PlaTInum", a general-purpose premium SUV (multifunctional sports vehicle). This LED headlamp for Cadillac Escalade consists of 5 low beam LED components and 2 high beam components.

Among the two products developed by Hella, the high-functional "VarioLED" is supposed to have a built-in function that can change the direction of the headlight left and right, as well as a function that does not make the driver of the opposing vehicle dazzle when driving the high beam.

Figure 8: Development direction of headlamps
What has been practical so far is the "DBL" that changes the direction of the headlights according to the direction of travel, the "AHB" that automatically switches the far and near beam lights according to the position of the forward or opposite vehicle, and the position of the forward or opposite vehicle based on The "ADB", which switches the far and near beam lights, is expected to be practical in the future. The "AZB" is used to switch the light distribution characteristics according to the position of the same or opposite vehicle in the front. The company regulations).

Among them, it may be necessary to introduce a function to prevent the driver of the opposite vehicle from producing a dazzling feeling. As shown in Figure 8, City Light Industry has summarized the recent trend of high functionalization of headlamps. The first to be practical is the function of illuminating the turning direction of the vehicle through the headlight swinging head (DBL in FIG. 8), and the function of automatically switching the high and low beam lights to prevent the driver of the opposing vehicle from feeling dazzling ( (AHB in Figure 8).

The function that has been put into practical use recently is to steplessly switch from the high beam to the low beam according to the speed of the vehicle and whether there is a facing or co-directional vehicle in front, to maintain the optimal illumination state (ADB in Figure 8) ). This function has already begun to be equipped on some premium models in Germany. In addition, what is expected to be practical in the future is the function of switching the light distribution characteristics when the camera detects that the same direction and the opposite vehicle are approaching in the high beam lighting state, and illuminates the light outside the vehicle (Figure 8) AZB). Hella's vision for VarioLED is this AZB function that prevents the driver of the vehicle from dazzling.

The function of VarioLED not to illuminate a specific range is achieved by rotating the protective cover provided in front of the LED. The protective cover can function as a shielding baffle for shielding the LED light flux, and the shape of the shielding will change when it is rotated.

Hella has always considered rotating the protective cover to realize the AZB function, but in addition, like the Audi A8 introduced at the beginning of the article, when a large number of LEDs are used to form the headlights, only the position of the opposing vehicle is extinguished. LED, which can also achieve this function.

On the other hand, Hella is also studying a popular LED headlamp called "EcoLED". While limiting the far and low beams as a headlamp function, it also reduces costs and power consumption by reducing the number of LEDs used. The company's vision is not to use LED components by far and low beams as it is now, but to realize the design of switching the high and low beams by one LED component.

As Hyra ’s EcoLED speculates, reducing the number of LEDs used will become the core of future LED headlamp cost reductions. In the case of low beam, the brightness is generally recognized to be at least 1000lm, and now to achieve this value, from the examples of Toyota and Mitsubishi, at least 3 LED light sources are required. The industry predicts that this brightness can be achieved with two LED light sources by 2012, but only one is required after 2014. In this case, the cost will be greatly reduced compared to the present, thus ushering in the period of full popularization of LED headlamps.

FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) is a new access technology utilizing an optical network architecture optimized for simple, economical delivery of telephony, packet data and video to the home via a single bi-directional fiber optic strand. This will enable towns to facilitate the delivery of current and future video, voice and data services, and is an all-optical alternative to the traditional copper-based feeder, distribution and drop portions of a residential access network.
We are offering a wide range of FTTH Relative products, such as FTTH Splitter Distribution Box, FTTH Terminal Box, Optical Cross Connection Cabinet, and Fiber Optic Faceplate , etc
