Since 2011, the Zhongshan Municipal Government has set up a special fund for the development of LED industry of 10 million yuan, which is specially used to support the scientific and technological research and development and industrialization of the LED industry, the construction of a common technology platform, the support plan for science and technology, and the demonstration project.
Zhongshan Inspection and Quarantine Bureau announced that the export batch and value of LED lamps in the first half of Zhongshan increased by 136.2% and 119.8% respectively. It is understood that there are many rapidly growing LED lighting companies in Zhongshan. Among them, Mulinsen Electronics Co., Ltd. has grown into the largest in-line LED packaging company in the country. In 2012, the company's output value was nearly 2 billion yuan, profits and taxes exceeded 200 million yuan, and the market share of Christmas LED lights in Europe and the United States reached more than 60%. With the promotion of LED lighting policy in the field of public lighting, Hongbao Electric has rapidly increased its annual output value from 20 million yuan in 2009 to nearly 100 million yuan in 2012.
At present, Zhongshan has a number of LED business incubation and research and development bases and trade logistics platforms are under construction. Xiaolan Town is also building the largest LED market in China - LED China Jiuzhou City. At present, the first phase of Jiuzhou City is basically completed. After the market is completed, Zhongshan will become the national LED product trade logistics hub.
According to industry insiders, Zhongshan LED is currently facing some problems. The entire LED industry faces the problem that most of the upstream core technology patents are mastered by foreign manufacturers, lacking complete industry normative standards, and product quality is uneven. At the same time, Zhongshan also faces competitive pressures from sister cities such as Dongguan, Jiangmen and Huizhou.
In order to coordinate the industrial layout, integrate various resources, and promote the development of the LED industry, the relevant departments have submitted to the municipal government to apply for the “Zhongshan LED Industry Development Planâ€. At present, the project has been approved by the municipal government and included in the 2013 key research projects in Zhongshan City.
