Vishay launches integrated DrMOS solution SiC762CD

Vishay launched an integrated DrMOS solution-SiC762CD. In a compact 40-pin PowerPAKMLP 6x6 package, the device integrates high-side and low-side N-channel MOSFETs optimized for PWM signals, a fully functional MOSFET driver IC, and a cathode output diode. The new SiC762CD fully complies with the voltage regulator (VR) standards for servers, PCs, graphics cards, workstations, game consoles and other high-power CPU systems specified by DrMOS. The operating frequency of the device exceeds 1MHz, and the efficiency is as high as 92%.

The input voltage of SiC762CD is 3V ~ 27V, which can provide continuous output current up to 35A. The integrated power MOSFET is optimized for output voltages from 0.8V to 2.0V, with a nominal input voltage of 24V. At 5V output, SiC762CD can also provide very high power for ASIC applications.

The SiC762CD's advanced gate drive IC receives a single PWM input from the VR controller and then converts the input signal into the gate drive signals of the high-side and low-side MOSFETs. The PWM input is compatible with all controllers, and especially supports controllers with tri-state PWM output functions.

The driver IC of the device has a circuit that can automatically detect light load conditions, and can automatically start frequency hopping mode operation (SMOD), so that the system can also obtain high efficiency under light load conditions. Adaptive dead time control can further improve efficiency. Protection features include undervoltage lockout, breakdown protection, and a thermal alarm function that alerts the system when the junction temperature is too high.

By integrating driver ICs and power MOSFETs, SiC762CD reduces power losses and parasitic impedance effects associated with high-frequency discrete power stages. Designers can use high-frequency switching to improve transient response, save the cost of output filters, and achieve the highest possible efficiency density in multiphase Vcore applications.

The device complies with the halogen-free regulations of IEC 61249-2-21 and the RoHS directive 2002/95 / EC.

SiC762CD is now available for sampling and will be mass-produced in the first quarter of 2010. The lead time for bulk orders is 12 to 16 weeks.
