Recently, MediaTek announced that its Xuxu Investment will open a 15% to 40% stake in the RF PA supplier in the amount of NT$110 per share from February 13 to March 14; The reference price in the counter is over 99 yuan, the premium is about 10%, and the acquisition scale is nearly 1 billion yuan to 2.866 billion yuan (about 575 million US dollars). If MediaTek completes a 100% acquisition of Luo Da, the total acquisition size will exceed 6 billion yuan. As the core of wireless connectivity, RF devices are essential RF devices where wireless connectivity is required. Driven by IoT applications, the number of wireless connections in the world will multiply in the future. The RF business is expected to play an important role in mobile terminals and emerging business areas such as IoT, automotive applications and networked computing. MediaTek pointed out that the public acquisition is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter. The goal of the company is to achieve a 100% acquisition. The current shareholding ratio is about 25.6%. The main product lines of the company include mobile phone PA, RF switch (T/RSwitch), low noise power amplifier (LNA), digital TV and set-top box. When the company was just acquired, it was still a company that mainly engaged in FM chips. Later, it slowly began to do Bluetooth and RF PA devices. This wholly-owned shareholding shows that MediaTek is determined to enter the RF PA market. Since 2016, 4G mobile phones have occupied more than half of the market.
