Chinese Academy of Sciences developed a 100 million-pixel camera

The Institute of Optics and Electronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences released a research result on the 9th. The institute successfully developed the camera “IOE3-Kanban” with up to 100 million pixels. This camera is currently the highest single-chip CCD pixel digital camera in China.

The camera is small, light and only 19.3 centimeters wide at the widest point of the fuselage, but its image frame has reached 10240 x 10240 pixels, and it can achieve high-definition imaging in the temperature range of -20 °C to 55 °C. According to reports, the camera is equipped with a large field of view, high-precision, low-distortion optical system, advanced camera control system and large-capacity data recording system developed by Optoelectronics, and integrated into the “largest base remote sensor in the national aviation remote sensing system”. The area array CCD mapping camera system" can be applied to more than ten areas that require high-definition imaging such as aerial surveying, urban planning, disaster monitoring, and intelligent transportation systems.

During the "10th Five-Year Plan" period, the Institute of Optoelectronics successfully developed a 81 million-pixel large-area CCD camera system, which reached the international advanced level at that time. The birth of a 100 million-pixel camera marks a more mature technology for the development of a large-target high-resolution CCD digital camera in China.
