Neon is the code name of Microsoft's next-generation design language. It will continue the concept of running the same interface on all devices that was first introduced by Windows 8, and it will also serve as a bridge between holograms/augmented reality and the desktop environment. Neon's user interface is said to "move across devices," and through the use of textures, 3D models, lighting, and more, it will provide a user experience that maps to the physical world. Microsoft plans to release NEON next fall. It will first appear in Redstone 3, which is expected to be released in April-May next year.
