Spreadtrum Communications Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Exhibition") today announced the launch of the world's first commercial AVS audio and video decoder chip - Spreadtrum's new SV6111 audio and video decoder chip. AVS is a digital audio and video codec technology standard with independent intellectual property rights in China. After making great achievements in the field of wireless baseband chips, Spreadtrum believes that its SV6111 solution will also make breakthroughs in the field of audio and video chips.

The SV6111 audio and video decoder chip implements all the decoding functions required by the AVS standard and supports the MPEG-2 standard. The chip uses internationally advanced SoC design technology, integrates important software processing systems and more hardware processing functions, making it more integrated and more powerful, while significantly reducing cost and power consumption. The chip is also the first "system-level" AVS audio and video decoder chip with powerful multimedia processing capabilities.

The SV6111 chip supports both real-time decoding in both high-definition (HD) and standard definition (SD) modes, and has the mainstream functions required for current and future digital TV set-top boxes, which can be applied to IPTV, cable digital TV, satellite digital TV and Terrestrial transmission of digital television and other fields. The actual test performance of the chip is good and the product performance is stable. At present, the SV6111 chip sample has been shipped, and it is believed that commercial products using the SV6111 chip are expected to be available in the near future.

For Spreadtrum's successful launch of the world's first AVS audio and video decoder chip, Professor Avin Gao Wen, the leader of the AVS working group, said: “Exhibition has been a leading IC design company in China and has made considerable efforts and success in the AVS standard of China's independent intellectual property rights. The introduction of AVS audio and video decoding chips is an important milestone in the industrialization and commercialization of AVS standards."

AVS is China's second-generation source codec standard with independent intellectual property rights. The SV6111 chip is also another strong support for China's standards after Spreadtrum successfully developed the world's first TD-SCDMA mobile phone core chip, which not only promoted The development of the source code of China's independent intellectual property rights will also play an important role in the information industry becoming bigger and stronger.

When it comes to product launch, Cao Qiang, vice president of Spreadtrum Marketing, said, “Shenzhen has been committed to technical research and product development in the AVS field for several years. We believe that Spreadtrum is not only in the leading position in the development and commercialization of AVS chips, but also has been An important contribution to the advancement of the AVS standard. The launch of the SV6111 chip marks that Spreadtrum has achieved its first major milestone in the field of audio and video chips."
