The twelve major resistances restricting the development of the LED lighting industry

July 10, 2020

1. LED color difference

The application of a single LED basically does not have the problem of color difference, but if many LEDs are put into use together or a lamp has multiple LEDs at the same time, the problem of color difference is prominent. Let me talk about a group of lamps first. If the colors of the lights are inconsistent at a glance, I would like to discount a happy mood. Although the LED is divided into eight military regions according to the color temperature like LUXEON, and then divided into several cells in the right of each military region, to a certain extent, a large range of color difference is controlled, but there are still differences in the same color area and the same batch of LED And this difference still cannot escape the provocation of the naked eye.

2. LED insulation problem

(Insulation here refers to the positive and negative poles of the heat-dissipating substrate to the LED) We dare not say that we are the first to discover the insulation problem of the LED, but at least big-name manufacturers are surprised by our doubts. Until now, the fundamental problem has not yet been solved, but only remedial measures have been taken, such as the use of aluminum substrates to deal with insulation (the original aluminum substrates were not insulated, and now almost all have been done) may feel incomprehensible. A single LED is not insulated and has little effect. There are problems when multiple LEDs are connected in series.

3. LED anti-pulse problem

This problem is still controversial with the manufacturer. It does exist in my actual application, mainly reflected in the cold pulse, that is, the moment of power-on, and a few LEDs break down or disconnect at the moment of cold power-on. I think it is not caused by static electricity or high voltage (the starting voltage is within the range)

4. The problem of LED light angle

Since the LED lens packages of different manufacturers are different, even the same luminous angle (nominal angle), the effect is different, which makes the selection of the light condensing mask more difficult, and it is still not universal.

5. Hidden danger of LED blinding

The excessive concentration of LED light-emitting points makes the center point super bright, which is easy to hurt people's eyes. Although some lighting manufacturers make efforts in this regard, due to the lag of regulations, it can only be a moral issue for people.

6. LED heating problem

In theory, LEDs do not heat up very much, but due to the immaturity of the current technology, LED heating is well known, and I do n’t want to say more.

7. LED efficiency is low (luminous rate)

At present, the electrical conversion efficiency of LEDs is too low (because there is no instrument test, dare not give specific data).

8. Insufficient LED brightness

The lack of brightness makes LEDs currently only play supporting roles in the lighting industry, mainly for decoration.

9. LED light attenuation and life

At present, the light decay and life problems of LEDs produced by mainland or Taiwanese companies are more serious. Let me not mention it. I am afraid that big-name manufacturers such as LUXEON have a nominal 100,000 hours. I am afraid that only their own mentality is clear. Matching may affect the light decay and life of the LED, so 100,000 hours is just a selling point!

10. The problem of LED drive power

At present, most of the driving circuits are borrowed from the Switching Power Supply. Of course, there are also very small numbers of circuits that are specifically used for LED driving, but the effect is basically the same. Because the LED requires DC driving and adopts constant current control, the driving circuit is quite large. Can not be compared with electronic transformers, and the efficiency is relatively low, reaching 80% to be considered good (single can not reach). In addition, in order to pursue applicability, the manufacturer claims that a drive can take ten or so (one, two,...), But this is a misunderstanding. Although it is a constant current, it is too high. The initial voltage often kills the LED in an instant.

11. LED modeling is limited

Due to the characteristics of single-sided LED lighting, the shape of LED lamps is subject to certain restrictions.

12. LED unit price is too high

An imported 1W-3W LED costs about 3 US dollars, and the domestic ones cost more than 10 pieces (poor quality, no intellectual property rights). A lamp with about 6 LEDs is sold to consumers. , Do you want to buy a color TV or a lamp?

ZhenHuan's constant voltage mode TRIAC/Phase dimmable led drivers use metal Iron material housing with junction box, IP20 level for indoor use only, accepts the output power range from max 100 Watts. The series led power transformer adopts 120V 60Hz input voltage and designed to meet ETL/cETL Class 2 FCC RoHS listed style enclosures and high PFC ≥0.95, 3 years warranty.
