The total installed capacity of the power station is 510,000 kilowatts. The installed capacity, reservoir storage capacity, and power generation methods will not have much impact on the ecology and hydrology, but the economic objectives of a single power station operation will certainly be difficult to achieve, and it will inevitably be a multi-level development and adjustment and compensation. System development will inevitably endanger the rivers in Tibet and even the Tibetan Plateau. If the system development thinking remains unchanged, rivers on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau will not be able to escape.

In addition to the Tibeto Hydropower Station, during the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” period, a series of large-scale hydropower stations will be built on the Jinsha River, Lancang River, Nu River and Brahmaputra River, which will form the largest large-scale hydropower project in Shanghai. It is impossible to count how many hydropower stations have been built in Tibet. There are less than 10 50,000 kilowatts and hundreds of small hydropower stations. However, the operation efficiency is poor and the life span is short. From most of the hydropower stations above 3,500 meters in Sichuan, Qinghai and Tibet that I have visited, the glacial period of about 5 months has caused the majority of power station inlet ditches to be congested by ice. The output of hydropower plants is extremely low or even impossible. Power generation, the freezing of the power station system is extremely serious, and the maintenance costs are huge.

Tibet is not suitable for building hydropower stations. First, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is a large river originating in Asia. The rivers are mainly fed by glaciers and melt water, and their ability to recharge the lakes is weak. Seasonal differences in hydrology are serious and unstable. The output of power plants is low, the quality of power generation is not high, and the damage caused by freezing and closure in winter is caused. Severe harm to power system is serious. Second, due to the limited value of land and geological conditions in the river valleys, it is difficult for Tibet's rivers to build regulatory reservoirs. The adjustment performance of the power stations will be reduced and their compensation capabilities will be affected. The above two points reduce the technical and economic indicators of the power plant.

Build the power grid greatly damaged the value of the landscape

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is the ridge of the earth. It is a highland of water resources and ecosystems and has global significance. Its development is positioned as an ecological industry.
