Amateur radio is a tool used by amateur radio enthusiasts to study radio communication technology, and to conduct technical exchanges, training and competitions. This article introduces the cubic quad antenna used for 2m wave communication. Cooperating with antenna rotator and azimuth controller can effectively communicate with amateur radio enthusiasts. The block antenna has the advantages of strong directivity, high gain, easy matching and easy production. Now we will introduce the production of a 4-unit block antenna with 145MHz as an example. As shown in Fig. 1, the block antenna is composed of a directional dipole, an active dipole and a reflective dipole. The length and spacing of the vibrator are marked on the picture, the unit is mm. Considering the wind resistance and easy production, the author uses commercially available aluminum alloy strips as the vibrator. The method of folding the vibrator is shown in Figure 2. Open one end of the frame and drill a few small holes to adjust the circumference of the entire frame. Supported with an epoxy strip in the middle, such a lead to the vibrator is ready. In the same way, another directional oscillator and reflective oscillator can be made. The method of active vibrator is shown in Figure 3. The middle opening of one side of the frame, both ends are fixed on the epoxy strip, and it is used as the feed point to connect the feed line. The antenna crossbar adopts a commercially available aluminum alloy square tube of 25mmX25mm, and the crossbar is about 1.2m long. The connection of each vibrator and the cross bar can first fix the epoxy strip on a small square tube, and then fix the square tube on the cross bar. The feeding point of the active element of the antenna can be directly connected to a 50-ohm RF cable without any matching device. Attention must be paid to the placement of the active vibrator feed side during installation (Figure 4). Radio enthusiasts use the direction shown in Figure 4 (b) for the 2m band. After the wireless installation is completed, it can be adjusted. Simply add the transmitter and the standing wave ratio meter to increase or decrease the active oscillator and the length of each oscillator to make SWR = 1.
